Best Reviews Deals publishes reviews and buying guides for products people use around the home, the garage and the yard. This page explains how we work, how we make money, and what you can hold us to. If we fall short of anything described here, we want to hear about it.
Our purpose
Most shoppers do not need more options. They need a shorter list and a clear reason behind it. Our job is to narrow a crowded category down to a handful of sensible choices, explain the trade-offs in plain language, and be honest about who each product is wrong for.
We would rather publish one guide we stand behind than ten that repeat what the manufacturer already said.
Editorial independence
Our editorial team decides what we cover and what we recommend. No brand, retailer or affiliate partner can buy a recommendation, influence a ranking, or review our work before it is published.
We do not accept payment for placement in a guide. We do not accept payment to remove criticism. We do not run sponsored posts dressed up as editorial. If that ever changes, this page will change first, and any sponsored content will be labeled clearly at the top.
How we make money
We use affiliate links. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. We participate in the Amazon Associates Program and other affiliate programs.

Commission rates differ between products and between retailers. Those differences do not affect our rankings. A product that pays us nothing can and does outrank a product that pays us well. Where a category has a good option that we earn nothing from, we say so.

How we choose what to recommend
Before we look at a single product, we decide what matters in the category and write those criteria into the guide. That order is deliberate. Choosing criteria after picking favorites is how reviews end up justifying a conclusion someone already reached.
Our research draws on manufacturer specifications and documentation, published safety and industry standards, owner reviews gathered across multiple retailers, professional and trade coverage, warranty and support terms, and price history over time.
We weigh long-term owner reports more heavily than first impressions. A product that delights for a week and fails in month seven is not a good recommendation.
What we do not do
We are direct about this because many sites are not. We do not conduct physical product testing, and we do not operate a lab. We do not claim measurements we did not take. When we describe how a product performs, we are reporting and analyzing evidence from the sources above, not results we produced ourselves.
If we ever begin evaluating products in person, we will say so explicitly, describe the method, and label which findings come from that work.
Scoring
Every product we rate receives a BRD Score from 0 to 10. The score is built from the same weighted criteria across every category, so a 8.4 means the same thing in Kitchen as it does in Tools.
The score is never generated automatically or at random. The full formula, the criteria and the weight assigned to each one are published on our How We Review page. If we change the formula, we will note the change and the date on that page.
Accuracy and sourcing
Specifications, model numbers, standards and any figure we publish are checked against a primary source before publication. Where a claim comes from a manufacturer rather than an independent party, we attribute it.
We avoid putting prices in the body text of our guides. Prices move constantly, and a number that was right in March is misleading by June. Where price matters to a recommendation, we describe it in relative terms.
If we cannot verify something, we leave it out. A confident sentence built on a number nobody can trace is worse than no sentence at all.
How we use AI
We use AI tools in parts of our workflow, including research assistance, drafting and summarizing source material. We are open about it because the alternative is pretending otherwise.
What AI does not do here is decide what we recommend or reach print unreviewed. Every guide is read, corrected and approved by a named human editor before publication, and that person is responsible for what it says. Facts produced by an AI tool are verified against primary sources like any other claim, because these tools invent plausible specifications with complete confidence.
Who writes for us
Every guide carries a byline and a publication date. Our writers each cover a defined area rather than rotating across whatever is trending, so the person writing about cordless drills is the person who follows that category.
Author biographies describe what a writer covers and how they approach it. We do not list credentials, awards or affiliations that a writer does not hold.
Updates and revisions
Product categories move. Models are discontinued, revised and replaced. We review published guides periodically and after significant changes in a category, and we show the last updated date on every guide.
When an update changes a recommendation, we change the guide rather than quietly leaving an outdated pick in place.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it.
Corrections to factual errors are made promptly. If an error was significant enough to change a reader’s decision, we add a dated correction note to the guide rather than editing silently. Minor fixes such as typos and broken links are made without a note.
If you spot an error, tell us through our contact page and point us to the correct source if you have one. We would rather be corrected by a reader than leave a mistake standing.
Safety
Several categories we cover involve real hazards, including power tools, electrical equipment, batteries and fuel-powered machines. Where relevant, our guides note applicable safety standards and required precautions.
